The Sierra Leone delegation, led by Ambassador Soulay Daramy, participated in a seminar organized by the China Foreign Affairs University on the theme “Building a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.” This seminar that was held in Beijing aims to reinforce the longstanding relationship between China and African countries.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Foreign Service Academy at Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Soulay Daramy, emphasized that the seminar’s theme is timely given the current global dispensation. He expressed Sierra Leone’s appreciation for the opportunity to engage in such meaningful discussions.
Ambassador Daramy highlighted the historical friendship, cooperation, and interaction between Africa and China that have benefited both peoples. He stated, “Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China have enjoyed half a century of excellent cordial diplomatic relations characterized by mutual respect, benefit, and sincerity. Thanks to the political leadership and people-to-people interactions.”
He praised the initiative of holding such discussions, stating that it serves to sustain these positive ideals for continued beneficial relations. Ambassador Daramy asserted that respect and mutual benefit in diplomacy anchor reciprocity, making the concept of a shared future particularly relevant.
Furthermore, he noted that Sierra Leone and other African countries are actively pursuing their development aspirations. A sincere and genuine partnership with the People’s Republic of China will not only expedite this process, but also enhance the achievement of desired mutual benefits for all parties involved.
