BEIJING – In a move set to significantly boost Sierra Leone’s agricultural and tourism sectors, a strategic cooperation agreement has been signed between the Sierra Leone Embassy in Beijing and the Chinese firm Aladdin Holdings Group Co. Ltd.
The memorandum outlines plans for the construction of the “China-Sierra Leone Modern Agricultural and Cultural Tourism Industry Innovation Center,” a large-scale project featuring an approximately 10-million square-meter agricultural factory to be developed in phases over eight to ten years.
The agreement, facilitated by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Abu Bakarr Karim aims to drive innovative development in agri-tourism and cultural tourism within Sierra Leone, with potential for regional expansion across West Africa.

Ambassador Karim reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to acting as a bridge between the company and relevant government ministries and agencies in Freetown. He stated that President Julius Maada Bio has expressed strong enthusiasm for the partnership and assured that the Government of Sierra Leone would provide favourable terms and policies to ensure mutually beneficial cooperation.
“We are deeply grateful to Aladdin Holdings Group for this crucial step in deepening our bilateral cooperation,” Ambassador Karim said during the signing ceremony.
In response, the Chairman of Aladdin Holdings Group, Mr. Yang Renqiang welcomed the agreement and pledged close collaboration with Ambassador Karim to bring the ambitious project to fruition. Both parties agreed to schedule a visit to Sierra Leone in the near future to further explore the project’s implementation.

The memorandum was formally signed by Mr. Mohamed Ashmed Wurie, Head of Chancery/Minister Counselor of the Sierra Leone Embassy, on behalf of the Mission, and by Mr. Zhao Xiangang, Director of Aladdin Holdings Group, on behalf of the company.
The project is envisioned as a cornerstone for modernizing Sierra Leone’s agricultural infrastructure while promoting integrated cultural and tourism initiatives.
